The E2261A is a single-wide, register-based M-Module. Because of its dense double-sided design, it is recommended for use with only the E2251A C-size M-Module carrier. The E2261A has four independently programmable RS-232 terminal interfaces. Using the available breakout cable (option 001), you can route these four interfaces to four different locations. In a loaded E2251A (five E2261A units), you can have 20 serial interfaces! The built-in data handshaking and the internal 2KB data buffers per channel reduce communication overhead. With software limitations, the E2261A can be used as a general purpose RS-232 communications module for control of other instruments.
