Description

The Bioanalytical System CGME Controlled Growth Mercury Electrode was developed as an accessory for the BAS 100 series and CV-50W electrochemical analyzers. As such, the electrode functions, including stirring and purging can be controlled either remotely or manually. The CGME has its own power supply so it can be used with the CV-27 Voltammograph and many commercial and home built instruments as well. This easy to use electrode has the advantage of a reliable low-resistance electrical contact to the mercury filament. Its unique fast response valve permits precise incremental control of mercury to the forming drop. The design was engineered to minimize the chance of mercury spillage.

Mercury drop electrodes are generated by the BASi Controlled Growth Mercury Electrode (CGME) in three modes: DME (Dropping Mercury Electrode), SMDE (Static Mercury Drop Electrode), CGME (Controlled Growth Mercury Electrode). The CGME mode is available only on the BAS 100B/W and the CV-50W, whereas the SMDE mode is available with any PC- or microprocessor-controlled potentiostat (including the EC epsilon). The dispense and knock functions can also be manually controlled, so a Hanging Mercury Drop Electrode can be generated manually (e.g., for stripping experiments using the CV-27).
