Description

The Mercury RACEway Series MYRIAD DCR-1030 interface connects Ampex DCRsi family and DIS family recorders with host computers in a range of applications including data collection/archiving, image processing, simulation and remote sensing.

The RACE++ Series MYRIAD DCR-1030 consists of RACEway and VME64 interfaces, buffered record/playback subSystems, and a Motorola 68030-based controller, all interconnected via an onboard local bus. This 6U VME board supports sustained data transfer to Ampex 733 cartridge tapes (48 Gbytes) at rates up to 30 MB/s and permits the DCRsi recorders to be used with various VME and workstation platforms.

The optional RACEway module mounts flush to the DCR-1030 and does not require an additional VME slot. When operating as a VME64 master in the BLT mode, the DCR-1030 has been benchmarked at 52 MB/s between VME64 memory and the FIFO buffers. The VME interface also allows interleaved VME slave access to the DCR-1030's onboard DRAM. This provides a VME-based host access to onboard control data structures during data transfers
