Description

The Agilent Technologies 86082A wavelength domain component analyzer (WDCA) is designed for the manufacture of narrow-wavelength filters. As bandwidth requirements accelerate, demand is increasing for higher bit rates and more channels. As more channels are added, the filter width and the spacing between channels are decreasing to keep all the channels within the critical range of optical amplifiers. The optical filter is a crucial component in determining channel separation and location.

The optical filter’s absolute wavelength position, location relative to the ITU grid, width, and shape are all important specifications to the designers, manufacturers, and users of these filters. As filter widths move from 200 GHz to 25 GHz and lower, these specifications become increasingly difficult to measure. The WDCA offers both the high precision and fast measurement speeds necessary for these demanding measurements.
