Description

The Newport / Klinger Scientific MC4 Programmable Stepping Motor Controller provides up to four axes of intelligent stepping motor pulse generation. When connected to a stepping motor driver and a host computer, it forms a compact, high performance unit capable of both basic independent movements and very elaborate repetitive cycles, similar to a robotic system. Different controls located on the front panel give the MC4 total autonomy.

Model MC4 is a 4-axis intelligent stepping motor pulse generator. It does not contain any internal power amplifiers to drive stepping motors. It is designed to be used with the MD4 Stepping Motor Power Driver.

Model MD4 Stepping Motor Power Driver is a modular unit capable of driving from one to four stepping motors. This can include any combination of variable reluctance and permanent magnet motors. Variable reluctance motors are driven in full step mode only. Permanent magnet motors are driven in ministep mode only. A ministep is a fraction of a full step. The MD$ will move a permanent magnet stepping motor one-tenth of a fullstep for every step pulse it receives from the MC4. For a normally specified 200 step/revolution stepping motor, it now becomes a 2000 step/revolution motor.
