The UDT Instruments S550 Fiber Optics Power Meter was specifically designed for users to facilitate and simplify the measurement of:

Fiber Cable Transmission
Connector / Splice Loss
Absolute Output Intensity of Fibers / Cables
Efficiency of Receivers
Absolute Intensity of Sources

Dual head capability is standard for absolute or ratio measurements. Silicon and germanium sensors are available to accommodate wavelengths from 250 to 2000 nm. Large area detectors are used to ensure total light collection, thereby eliminating alignment problems.

Sensor heads are supplied with a computer generated calibration traceable to NBS. The calibration includes tabular responsivity and a "Cal Factor" which allows the S550 to be internally adjusted to measure all wavelengths, thus elimination the need to correct data.
