The Raytheon UMUX III is a third-generation multiplexing platform designed to transport communications and instrumentation services across military and aerospace data distribution networks. The UMUX III combines the functionality of earlier UMUX systems with integrated digital phone multiplexing capability, allowing both voice and data services to be distributed through a common transport platform.
The UMUX III supports digital telephone service for up to 23 telephones while also providing connectivity for instrumentation and communications equipment using a variety of network interfaces. The system can be configured to operate using electrical T1 links, fiber-optic connections, or MIL-standard communications interfaces, and can be deployed as either a local node or as part of a cascaded multi-node architecture.
The unit incorporates front-panel controls and status monitoring capabilities, allowing operators to review alarms and configure operating parameters directly from the chassis. The design is intended for applications requiring reliable voice and data distribution in military, aerospace, test range, telemetry, and specialized communications environments.
The Telecore UMUX III Universal Multiplexer and Digital Phone Multiplexer System may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
