The FPM-8210 Series Fiber Optic Power Meters were developed specifically for production test of fiber optic systems and components delivering high measurement repeatability and the lowest polarization dependent response. These power meters measure optical power over a wavelength range of 850 to 1650nm up to 100mW (FPM-8210) and 1W (FPM-8210H). Connectorized and bare fiber measurements are made through the same input port (with associated adapters) with the same measurement repeatability and accuracy. Virtually insensitive to polarization state or to pattern changes from fiber orientation, the FPM-8210 Series delivers repeatable measurements.
Optimized for bare fiber measurements, the integrating cavity in the FPM-8210 offers a longer bare fiber measurement zone than any other measurement system. The fiber can extend from the holder anywhere from 1–5mm with essentially the same measurement results.
Engineered for this new measurement head, our unique fiber connector adapters accommodate the most popular fiber connectors. With a simple changeover from bare fiber measurements, the connectorized fiber can be threaded or simply slipped into the adapter for quick, precise measurements. The results are comparable with a bare fiber: the adapter locates the fiber ferrule in exactly the same place in the integrating cavity as the bare fiber. The only difference is the fiber connector’s PDL.
Automated test system integration is possible on both models with the standard GPIB interface and an analog output proportional to measurement power.
