Instruments manufactures custom rackmount test instruments for customers, and Rackmount Power Supplies are an integral part of these systems.
The 5012 and 5011 Series Instruments are multi-output power supplies built with the following off-the-shelf components: linear power supplies, solid state relays, AC input filter, fan, and fuse bank. These components are integrated into an aluminum housing that is 19" rack mountable. These power supply boxes are great if you need some or all of the voltage outputs available for your equipment. The bottom line is that these units can save you time in development. The voltage outputs go to standard 'D' type output connectors on the rear of the case. The solid state relay control inputs also map to the rear 'D' connectors. It would be very easy to bypass the solid state relays if you would just want all of the power supplies to power on/off as the AC input voltage is applied. The solid state relays allow user control over individual or similarly-wired groups of power supplies in the chassis - the topology of the wiring can be easily redone by the end user. There are no other unnecessary electronics to further complicate the design - just prewired linear power supplies in a box with AC Input, Fan, Relays, Fuses, and Output Connectors. Linear type power supplies have very clean output power (they are not programmable/variable). Linear power supplies also have non-referenced isolated outputs (user grounding topology determines whether the output voltage is + or -).
The 5017 and 5018 Power Supply Modules come with Power-One power supplies. Power-One’s high power modular products can be configured to provide up to 21 outputs in over 10 million voltage and current combinations. Eighteen chassis are available from 1000 to 4000 watts; including power factor corrected three-phase input, and metric mounting hardware models. Over 90 output modules are available to provide voltages from 1 to 48VDC. Output modules have a field demonstrated MTBF of greater than 5 million hours. Other features include a comprehensive array of module and system interface signals, extensive input transient protection, and international regulatory agency approvals. These high-performance products have a proven track record in high reliability communications, semiconductor test, and industrial applications.
The 5013 Power Supply Modules come with 4 International Power and 1 Power One power supplies. The International Power supplies are IHB12-1.7 with output 12VDC at 1.7AMPS; IHB5-3/OVP with output 5VDC at 3.0AMPS w/OVP; IHB5-3/OVP with output 5VDC at 3.0AMPS w/OVP; IHB24-1.2 with output 24VDC at 1.2 AMPS. The Power One power supply is HB5-3/OVP-A with output 1.2-2.5VDC at 1.8AMPS w/OVP. In addition there are two larger International Power supplies; both are IF5-25/OVP-512 with output 5VDC at 25AMPS w/OVP. The final internal power supply is a National Power IF15-15 with output 15VDC at 15AMPS or 12VDC at 16AMPS. There are two Potter & Brumfield Solid State Relays Model SSR-240D25. With excellent cooling and airflow this high-performance product has a proven track record in high reliability communications, semiconductor test, and industrial applications.
The EADS 2003 Power Controller may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
