The Kontron FS-8718 with dog house option is a ruggedized 18-slot, 8U VME enclosure. The FS-8718 was designed with dog house option to meet MIL-STD-810E, MIL-STD-901D, and MIL-STD 167/1 shock and vibration specifications for severe environments, as well as MIL-STD-461C for EMI specifications.

A hinged front door provides front loading access to the VME PCBs. An optional security interlock can be provided on the front door and all other panels are then non-removable without first opening the front panel. The rear I/O panel can be custom configured for the intended application.

Cooling is front to rear as standard, and can be optionally configured for front to side or side to side. Thermal monitoring and control are available as an option. The enclosure comes in a rack-mount or desktop configuration and can be provided without internal shock mounts and EMI hardware.

The FS-8718 Kontron Rugged 18 Slot 8U VME Rugged Chassis may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
