The Parker/Compumotor M Series Motor/Drive is a special case of a hybrid permanent magnet step motor driven by a 20 KHz, bi-polar, chopper power amplifier. This drives digitally-controlled proportioning of current simultaneously between multiple windings gives high torque at low speed without the jarring accelerations of traditional step motors. It has complex wave-shaping circuitry which allows significant compensation for many of the mechanical and electrical imbalances found in step motors. The precision of the drives power proportioning techniques yields exceptional repeatability while maintaining the open-loop accuracy and ease of use characteristic of steppe motors.
The Compumotor M106-178 Motor Drive may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Powered from 120 VAC.
