The Parker/Compumotor M Series Motor/Drive is a special case of a hybrid permanent magnet step motor driven by a 20 KHz, bi-polar, chopper power amplifier. This drives digitally-controlled proportioning of current simultaneously between multiple windings gives high torque at low speed without the jarring accelerations of traditional step motors. It has complex wave-shaping circuitry which allows significant compensation for many of the mechanical and electrical imbalances found in step motors.
