The Optima 8 60 CAMAC (I EEE-583, Computer Automated Measurement and Control) powered crate is an assembly made up of three basic units: the crate, the power supply, and the blower drawer. The blower section and power supply can be removed without disturbing or removing the crate from the rack, or dismantling cabling from the modules.

The crate houses the removable blower tray, supports the power supply, and incorporates the Dataway bus. The crate assembly is constructed of reinforced steel and precision-cast aluminum upper and lower guides for long, rugged, trouble-free use. Precision-cast and machined, full-depth, self-centering module insertion guide rails insure smooth insertion, removal, and the proper alignment of CAMAC modules with their Dataway connectors.

The DSP Technology OPTIMA-860 Powered CAMAC Chassis Power Supply may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Provides regulated DC power distribution to CAMAC modular instrumentation crates supporting up to 25 single-width modules. Delivers multiple voltage rails including +6V, -6V, +24V, -24V, and +12V with current monitoring and overcurrent protection. Features front panel voltage/current metering, remote inhibit capability, and forced-air cooling. Interfaces with CAMAC dataway backplane via power distribution pins. Includes AC input filtering, soft-start circuitry, and thermal overload protection. Commonly used in particle physics experiments, nuclear instrumentation systems, and industrial control applications requiring modular data acquisition and control hardware.
