Heurikon's Laguna has been specifically designed to power real-time applications that demand high performance and reliable multiprocessing such as video-on-demand, machine vision, simulation, and communication.
Based on MIPS RISC R4000® CPU technology, Laguna is powered by the IDT R4600 which benchmarks at 92 SPECint92 and 82 SPECfp92 at 133 MHz. The R4600 is a true 64-bit RISC processor with on-chip floating-point capability, providing the superior deterministic interrupt response that is crucial to real-time applications.
Since it is based on the same MIPS architecture as the popular Silicon Graphics Indy(TM) workstations, Laguna serves as an ideal target processor for demanding real-time applications that are hosted by Silicon Graphics workstations. Wind River Systems' VxWorks(TM) software seamlessly joins Laguna to it's host workstation with a powerful real-time operating system and a rich set of native development tools.
Laguna's two front panel serial I/O ports provide multi-protocol data communications capability. A fast and wide SCSI II interface and on-board Ethernet; for high performance DMA supported I/O are included as standard.
The Laguna Emerson VMEbus Module may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
