A cryogenically-cooled mercury cadmium telluride array detector, integrated into Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy systems to detect mid-infrared radiation with high sensitivity and rapid response times. The detector converts infrared photons to electrical signals across multiple detection elements simultaneously, enabling multiplexed spectral acquisition. Features liquid nitrogen cooling for reduced thermal noise and enhanced detectivity, particularly in the fingerprint region. Commonly used in applications requiring high throughput infrared analysis including polymer characterization, pharmaceutical analysis, and environmental monitoring.
