PMC230A Abaco Systems PCMCIA Host Bus Adapter

The GE Fanuc / Ramix PMC230A is identical to PMC230 but has a recessed PCMCIA connection for improved security in harsh, mission critical environments. The PMC230A can take a Type III PCMCIA card unlike the PMC230. It offers PCMCIA expansion for single board computers or other processors with PMC attachment points.

Supporting one Type I, Type II or Type III PCMCIA card, the PMC230A is a low cost solution for integrating the wide range of I/O options available in PCMCIA form factor. These include: Ethernet, FAX/Modem, GPIB, GPS, 1553, Solid State Disk, Memory (SRAM or FLASH), RS232, Rotary Disk, and many others.

RAMiX provides full software support for all popular software environments (e.g. VxWorks, Lynx, pSOS etc.). Each driver has been developed specifically for the real time/data acquisition market. For each delivery, RAMiX fully tests both the base PMC230A and PCMCIA card to ensure fault free, immediate operation. A software license is included with each PCMCIA card purchased.

By providing the ensemble of PMC adapter, PCMCIA card and software driver, RAMiX offers unique assurance of on going compatibility. This is of critical importance when working with PCMCIA devices. As a rapidly expanding technology, PCMCIA products have a very fast evolutionary period. RAMiX is continuously testing PCMCIA product, evolutionary changes from the PCMCIA manufacturer are immediately incorporated into the relevant software driver. RAMiX policy is to maintain full backward compatibility, removing any requirement to maintain multiple configurations. The users application never changes, any adjustment required to maintain compatibility across PCMCIA product version is automatically dealt with by the RAMiX software. The PMC230A HBA has full card detect hardware, and support within the software driver. As a result, hot insertion and power on (re) configuration are always available. The PMC230A HBA supports PCMCIA revision 2.1.
