The Moog Animatics SmartMotor SM2315D DC Servomotors have two features that set apart from other SmartMotors. One, is the 0.250-inch hole in the back of the shaft. This hole is designed for a press fit with standard, under size 1/4-inch shafting and greatly facilitates customer rear shaft additions and modifications.
The second unique feature is an interior electronics expansion bay located just inside the back cover. This additional and internally connectorized space is designed to facilitate the addition of custom electronics.

This cable provides power distribution and RS-232/RS-485 serial communications connectivity between SmartMotor servo systems and control interfaces. It features dual 7-pin D-sub mixed contact connectors supporting simultaneous power transmission up to 48VDC and bidirectional data communication at standard serial baud rates. The 23.5-inch length accommodates typical panel-to-motor installations in compact automation cells. Primary applications include connecting SmartMotors to HMIs, PLCs, or PC-based controllers for motion control programming, diagnostics, and real-time command execution in precision positioning, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment.
