The Curtiss-Wright / Hybricon PICMG 2.16 CompactPCI Packet Switching Backplane Chassis are available in 8-, 10- and 21-slot configurations. Custom configurations also are available, ranging from two to 21 slots. The standard cPCI Ethernet backplanes comply with PICMG 2.0 R3.0 hot swap cPCI specifications. Featuring a stripline design they deliver high performance with low noise in 12 layers. These backplanes are available in 5 V or 3.3 V switchable V (I/O). In the 6U format, the CompactPCI backplane incorporates popular Ethernet packet switching technology and 2 PICMG 2.16 fabric slots. H.110 versions support PICMG 2.5 Telphony P5, all PICMG 2.5 telecom P4 buses, and PICMG 2.5 R1.0 cPCI computer telephony specification.

The cPCI Ethernet backplanes are designed with a jumperable geographic address with Type AB rear shrouds on RP3, RP5 and Type AB connectors per PICMG 2.16. They operate at transmission rates of 132/264 Mbytes/s (peak) for 32/64-bit transmissions @ 33MHz and 264/528 Mbytes/s (peak) for 32/64-bit transmissions at 66 MHz.
