Parker / Digiplan System 7 Brushless Servo Drive Unit Overview
Features:

The System 7 AC Brushless servo motors are 2 phase motors using peripheral magnets. These rare earth magnets mounted on the rotor surface contribute to the high peak torque and duty cycle ratings. Additionally, the motors are constructed with the same mechanical mounting dimensions as the standard size 23 or 34 stepper. However, the shaft diameter is larger to transmit the higher peak torque. Traditional brushless motors are of a 3 phase design. The System 7 AC Brushless motors are a 2 phase design that provides improved current control for smoother operation at low speeds and allows for recirculating drive technology for improved high speed performance.
System 7 has been designed for flexibility in drive choice. This flexibility is also available on the control side. The initial controls available with the introduction of System 7 are the RS-232 control module and the Step and Direction control module. The Step and Direction control module provides a means to use an extemal pulse source such as a Compumotor indexer or motion controller, or a user supplied signal. The RS-232 control module is a completely self contained controller allowing system control without an extenal pulse source. Both control cards use the standard System 7 seven signal link to maintain compatibility with all reasonable drives now and in the future.
