GLD-VME Digital Technology MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module

The Curtiss-Wright / Systran / Digital Technology GLD-VME and GLD-VME/SE MIL-STD-1553 Interface Modules provide a powerful and convenient interface between a host computer and a MIL-STD-1553 data bus. The Curtiss-Wright / Systran / Digital Technology GLD-VME MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module enables the host to simultaneously operate in real-time as a MIL-STD-1553A or B protocol Bus Controller (BC), Multiple Remote Terminal (MRT) and Chronological Monitor (CM). The Curtiss-Wright / Systran / Digital Technology GLD-VME MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module provides the host with complete access to data received or transmitted on the bus and the ability to detect bus errors.

The Curtiss-Wright / Systran / Digital Technology GLD-VME/SE MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module has all the same modes as the GLD-VME except that they only operate one at a time. Also, the GLD-VME/SE does not support error injection.

The Curtiss-Wright / Systran / Digital Technology GLD-VME and GLD-VME/SE MIL-STD-1553 Interface Modules utilize a high-speed controller in conjunction with dual-port Random Access Memory (RAM) to provide a complete, intelligent emulation system. Using on-board data structures located in the dual-port RAM, the board is capable of sustaining operation on the bus without host intervention. In addition, the CM stores commands, status responses, gap times and time tags within the same buffer.

The Curtiss-Wright / Systran / Digital Technology GLD-VME and GLD-VME/SE MIL-STD-1553 Interface Modules are manufactured as either single (1A and 1B bus) or dual- (2A and 2B buses) channel configuration. The dual-channel configuration provides all of the functionality of two single GLD-VME or GLD-VME/SE boards and twice the amount of on-board dual-port RAM. Each channel contains 64 K Words of dual-port RAM and may be mapped to one area of memory or two different areas of memory.

All MIL-STD-1553A or B protocol communication between emulated devices occurs over the 1553 bus, rather than through a local bus. The three operating modes provide extensive bus protocol error detection, such as parity error and no response.

The Curtiss-Wright / Systran / Digital Technology GLD-VME and GLD-VME/SE MIL-STD-1553 Interface Modules are equipped with an RS-422 port. This port provides a Discrete Output Signal (DOS) with a duration of two microseconds which may be programmed to signal the start of any buslist instruction. The port also allows for input of an external elapsed timer (ELT) clock and reset signal, as well as a start trigger for the Bus Controller mode.
