Vaisala HMP233 Humidity and Temperature Transmitter Overview

Features:

  • Microprocessor Based Instruments
  • Measures Relative Humidity and Temperature
  • Calculates Dewpoint Temperature and Absolute Humidity
The Vaisala HMP230 Series Humidity and Temperature Transmitters are microprocessor based instruments for the measurement of relative humidity and temperature; from these variables they can calculate dewpoint temperature, absolute humidity, mixing ratio, wet bulb temperature and enthalpy. The transmitters have two analogue outputs and they can be connected to a serial bus via the RS 232C interface or through an RS 485/422 serial module or a current loop module. At dewpoint temperatures below 0°C, the user can select whether the transmitter calculates dewpoint or frostpoint reading; as default, the transmitter calculates dewpoint.

The Vaisala HMP233 Humidity and Temperature Transmitter may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Vaisala HMP233 Humidity and Temperature Transmitter Description

Functions

Designed for precise measurement of relative humidity and air temperature in HVAC, meteorological, and industrial environments, this instrument employs capacitive and thermistor sensing elements. It operates on a robust electronic platform compatible with standard 4-20 mA or digital output interfaces, facilitating integration with building automation, environmental monitoring systems, or data acquisition units. The device supports direct connection to control systems through analog or digital communication protocols, enabling real-time environmental parameter monitoring and data logging for process control, climate control, and research applications.

Platforms

Designed for industrial environments, interfaces over RS485 or 4-20 mA analog output, suitable for monitoring environmental conditions in HVAC systems, greenhouses, and cleanrooms.

Applications

A high-precision, microprocessor-based humidity and temperature measurement device designed for industrial processes and environmental monitoring in demanding conditions. Features interchangeable humidity sensor probes, advanced calibration capabilities, and multiple output options for integration with control systems. Employs thin-film polymer capacitive sensing technology for accurate and stable humidity measurements across wide ranges. Provides reliable operation in harsh environments including high humidity, chemical contamination, and condensing conditions. Used extensively in HVAC systems, cleanrooms, environmental chambers, meteorological applications, and industrial process control where precise humidity and temperature monitoring is critical.

Accessories

Operating voltage 24V DC; requires power/signal cable and terminal strip or connector block; available mounting options include wall mount kit, pipe mount kit, weather shield, and duct installation kit; features RS-232 serial interface with 9-pin female D-connector; compatible with HMI41 indicator or PC via serial cable; HMK15 calibration kit available for field calibration; replacement humidity sensor element HUMICAP®180 available for periodic maintenance.

Interfaces

RS-232C serial communication via 8-pin M12 circular connector (male), optional RS-485 with 4-pin M12 connector, 4-20mA analog outputs via screw terminals, supply voltage 10-35 VDC input terminals, HMP230 series probe connection via 5-pin M12 connector (female) for remote probe mounting, optional local display module interface connector, IP65-rated aluminum housing with two cable glands (M20 x 1.5), supports HUMICAP 180R or 180RC sensor probes with 2.5m or 10m cable options, configuration via serial interface using terminal software or optional DM70 handheld indicator

Specifications

Industrial-grade transmitter engineered for precise relative humidity and temperature measurement in demanding environments. It provides configurable analog outputs (e.g., 4-20mA, 0-10V) and/or digital RS-485 Modbus communication for integration into control systems. Operates from a 24VDC supply. Housed in a robust, often IP65-rated enclosure for wall or duct mounting, it is commonly deployed in HVAC, cleanrooms, pharmaceuticals, data centers, and industrial process monitoring requiring high accuracy and stability.
