The Programmed Test Sources PTS 6400 Frequency Synthesizer is a high-performance, fast-switching RF frequency synthesizer designed for demanding automatic test, microwave, and communication system applications. Covering a wide frequency range from 1 MHz to 6.4 GHz, the PTS 6400 combines direct analog synthesis with integrated DDS technology to deliver 1 Hz resolution, phase-continuous switching, and very low phase noise.
This instrument is widely used in ATE systems, wireless and radar testing, component characterization, and R&D environments where speed, spectral purity, and programmability are critical. Designed with a modular architecture, the PTS 6400 supports multiple configuration options including bench or rack mount formats and local or remote operation.

Generates precise RF signals from 1 MHz to 6.4 GHz with 1 Hz resolution using direct digital synthesis (DDS) technology. Features TCXO timebase providing 1×10^-8 per day frequency stability. Equipped with keyboard/LCD interface and remote control capability for frequency programming and modulation control. Front panel RF output connector interfaces with test equipment, antennas, or DUT through standard coaxial connections. Rack-mountable chassis operates on 120/220 VAC line power. Used for signal source applications in RF testing, receiver calibration, local oscillator replacement, and communications system development.
