The Teledyne / Roper Scientific / Photometrics PXL Camera System is designed to deliver high-speed, high-resolution image capture with exceptional low-noise and high dynamic range imaging. The PXL allows a user to change more parameters within the system configuration than any other Photometrics camera. The unique modular architecture of the PXL provides a cost-effective alternative to the purchase of multiple camera systems.

To provide solutions to a variety of imaging requirements, PXL offers a wide selection of digitizers and CCDs. The PXL architecture supports fast CCDs, frame transfer CCDs, CCDs with multiple readout ports, and large format CCDs. In addition, this powerful imaging system delivers readout rates from 16 bits at 200,000 pixels per second to 12 bits at 2 million pixels per second. The digitizers on the PXL support variable readout rates allowing the user to balance readout speed and read noise.

The modular PXL architecture also provides considerable flexibility in configuring an imaging system. With multiple camera head support, your camera can be set up to meet specific application requirements. Select the CCD, computer interface, and software that you need today, then upgrade the system when your needs change. For example, it is possible to purchase a complete PXL HCCD camera system for high-definition imaging and then simply add a frame transfer CCD camera head for use in higher frame rate applications.

The PXL operates in multiple speed and detection modes allowing the user to easily change gain, region of interest, binning, and readout speed. The flexible speed-to-performance tradeoff is a feature of the PXL software control that tailors the camera's performance to an application's specific needs.
