The SY/MAX Class 8030 Type-RIM144 Multiplexed BCD and Single Channel Fast Response BCD/Gray Code Input Module is a microprocessor-based device designed to be used in either of two operational modes, multiplexed or single channel fast response. This module accepts data from a variety of external devices and enters the data into the processor's registers. This input module mounts in the register slot of a SY/MAX rack assembly and uses the rack's backplane to communicate to a SY/MAX Model 300, 400, 500, 600 or 700 Processor.

When the, multiplexed mode is selected, the module accepts signals from up to 16 sets of four digit thumbwheel switches (diode isolated) or other BCD input devices. This module is most frequently used when permanently mounted thumbwheel switches are required to allow an operator to change such parameters as timer and preset values and other operational data. Either standard BCD or nine's compliment BCD data can be selected by the appropriate switch setting. The BCD-to-binary conversion is performed by the module. There is no need to program the BCD-to-binary conversion command into SY/MAX processor memory.
