Newports' ORION is a cost effective, semi-automated fiber alignment system designed for light duty industrial fiber alignment applications. With a threshold power of only 50 nW, ORION achieves and maintains maximum throughput power at the touch of a button — even in the presence of thermal and mechanical disturbances. Alignment applications include fiber-to-fiber, device-to-fiber and free space laser beam to fiber. The gradient search optimization routine achieves maximum throughput power in less than one second. This technique employs a closed loop optical servo to continuously correct for both mechanical and thermal changes, as well as epoxy curing stresses.
The Newport Orion-CM Single Mode Fiber Alignment System Control Module may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
