987A-21DD-ADRG Watlow 1/8 DIN Process Control Module

The Watlow 987/988/989 Series 1/8 DIN Process Control Module meets a wide variety of needs in the process industries. Its broad range of I/O options allow control of virtually any process variable. The compact 1/8 DIN size with a 4.00 inch (102 mm) behind panel depth will fit in even the most restrictive spaces. The NEMA 4X front panel is water and corrosion resistant for use in the harshest applications including equipment wash-down.

Applications for the 988 include the control of wash and rinse tanks used in precision cleaning, together with process air heaters used to dry parts.

The operator interface is simple and easy-to-use with a Display key that lets the operator view information pertinent to the process, including deviation from set point, percent output, and units of measurement.

Two universal analog inputs and one event (digital) input accommodate unique system configurations.

Analog input applications include monitoring heater current, remote set point input, cascade, differential, or ratio control applications, or control of a valve via slide-wire feedback.

The event (digital) input allows the operator to select a function at the close of a switch. This can lock out the front panel, switch PID values, go to a remote or second set point, etc. The inputs are optically isolated from all outputs, eliminating the need for external isolation circuitry.

The control can have up to four outputs total, including standard Watlow output options, retransmit, communications, and one of three external signal conditioner power supplies. The output types are recognized by the control to simplify control setup and operation, with no need for DIP switches.
