The Gefen DVI Detective Module solves issues related to EDID that prevent signal passing from source to display. DVI (and VGA) displays use Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) to communicate the video resolutions and timings that they are capable of displaying to the source. In certain situations this data can be lost resulting in incorrect display settings, resulting in complete loss of video. The Gefen EXT-DVI-EDIDN solves this problem by ensuring that the correct EDID information is constantly available to the DVI source, even if the display is switched to a different source or disconnected.
The Gefen DVI Detective Module may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
