SAIC QD-4x12 Quad Video Digitizer

The SAIC QD-4x12 Quad Video Digitizer is an image capture system specifically designed by SAIC for demanding VES system applications. All four inputs are digitized and stored in independent rotary frame buffers, each storing four 12-bit frames or eight 8-bit frames. An event trigger stops the video clip rotary buffer and downloads the images via a PCI/DMA bus. This architecture allows image capture before an event and/or after an event. Installation, setup, and maintenance are easier because full-frame memory allows the digitizer to independently process each input without requiring that all cameras be gen-locked.

One VES controller computer can support two Quad Video Digitizers for eight cameras. Each camera/digitizer input is independent of the others, and from one to eight events can be captured randomly, simultaneously, or independently. The VES controller computer is a stand-alone device receiving only event triggers from the lane controller. The software gives the user control of 8-bit/12-bit digitizing, contrast, brightness, the number of images (pre- and/or post-event) captured for each digitizer channel. The Quad Video Digitizer was designed with the latest in A/D technology for high-resolution analog conversion to digital multi-frame buffers. The digitizer uses adaptive software to maximize dynamic range of the captured images. Installation of the digitizer is by PCI slot, with one PCI slot per board.
