VX5790 Tektronix Arbitrary Waveform Generator

The Tektronix VX5790 / VX5790A Arbitrary Waveform Generator is a single-wide D-size module having the following features:

• Custom waveforms of up to 100 MS/s (10 ns/point resolution)
• Waveforms from 0.01 - 25 MHz
• 10 bits of amplitude resolution
• Flexible waveform memory structure
• 128K data points of waveform memory
• Single channel
• A wide variety of trigger sources and modes

• 3 selectable filters

The waveform memory of the VX5790 is organized as data packets. Packets can be set to any size from 24 - 2048 10-bit words, and sequences of data packets can be combined into custom waveforms. The VX5790 can be programmed to generate an output trigger at any data point in a waveform. This trigger can be routed to the VXIbus via a STAR line, to a VXIbus ECLTRG or TTLTRG line, and is available on the front panel BNC connector. The VX5790 accepts input triggers from the VXIbus STAR lines, VXIbus ECLTRG or TTLTRG lines, from software, the front panel BNC connector, SYNC100 Trigger Protocol, or the ESTST Trigger Protocol. The VX5790 supports both VXIbus Word Serial and Shared Memory Protocols for communications with other VXIbus devices. Software codes and command formats conform to IEEE 488.2 and VXIbus System Specification Revision 1.2 for the VX5790 and Revision 1.3 fot the VX5790A.

The VX5790A added a newer version of VXIbus specification v1.3 message based interface (VX5790 has v1.2) including FDC Fast Data Channel protocol which requires the VX5535 embedded controller.
