Description
This Newport Burn-In System Controller Laptop is used and in good condition. This unit has the Newport Laser Control System Software, v2.93f installed. This unit does not include the NI PCMCIA-GPIB required for remote operation of the Newport mainframes. The battery on this unit is included, however it does not hold charge well. The laptop is fully functional while plugged into wall voltage. We recommend replacing the battery if the laptop is going to be used as a portable system controller. Please contact Gateway (the manufacturer of the laptop) for replacement battery part number and pricing.

The software listed above is loaded onto the system, and does not include the CD media. This system's hardware and software configuration is preserved, as it was originally used. As the end user, it will be the user's responsibility to comply with any non-transferable software licensing issues and delete any software that is deemed non-transferable. Upon request, we can delete and format the hard drive prior to shipping for a $20 fee.

Newport 8-Channel Butterfly Fixture Drawer (Model Number: 8-CHBF or 8CHBF)

The Newport 8-Channel Butterfly Fixture Drawer (8-CHBF or 8CHBF) holds up to (8) 14-pin laser diode, pigtail packages. Because each package can have its own unique pin-out configuration, the Newport 8-CHBF has a 28 pin, zero-inserion-force (ZIF) jumper block socket to allow any package to communicate with the system. If you do not want to use a PCB that fits the ZIF, jumper wires from pin to pin. Then simply connect your packages' pin-outs to the pre-set Newport configuration.

The pigtail bare fiber is then aligned via a bare fiber holder to the photodiode detector. In addition to TEC's, the drawer has two ports on the back plane to connect to a water circulator. If you provide good water flow, a circulator, in addition to working just as good as a TEC and its driver, is much cheaper.

The Newport Burn-In System Controller Laptop may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
