The Kontron PCI-DIO16 Interface Adapter Module provides eight reed relays, which can latch power, data, or other electronic signals for control applications; and eight optically isolated inputs, to allow monitoring of off-board switch closures or relays, or for general purpose monitoring needs. The PCI-DIO16 is PC and PCI slot compatible.
The PCI-DIO16 provides two parallel input/output (I/O) ports, organized as ports A, B, C, and D. Ports A and C are the only ports used. This is done to maintain compatibility with software written for the PCI-DIO32 board, which has twice as much I/O, and hence, uses more ports. Port A is an input port interfaced to optically isolated inputs. Port C is the reed relay output port.
