The AI-Tek / Airpax 78 Series Digital Process Monitors are designed with the severest industrial environments in mind. These units will provide reliable around-the-clock operation for years under adverse conditions. The design engineers paid close attention to trouble areas such as vibration, power line noise and R. F. interference. The basic instruments comes in six different operating modes - E.P.U.T. (tachometer), Accumulator (counter), Accumulator with Stop/Start (counter with electronic stop/start), Timer (time per event), or Ratio (ratio speed A / speed B).

In combination with these six basic operating modes there are literally thousands of combinations of options. These options include both analog and digital set points (either fixed or adjustable, latching or non-latching, normal or reverse logic), four or five digit display (L.E.D. for bright presentation, excellent readability and long life), auxiliary analog outputs (0-1 mA., 0-1 vdc., 0-50 mV.) for remote meters, computer interface or recorders, choice of signal inputs (standard-from magnetic pickups or pulse-from encoders or zero velocity pickups or contact-from form "C" contacts such as are found in flowmeters) and enclosures (explosion proof, weather proof or standard panel mounting).

The function of an E.P.U.T. (rate) monitor is to count the events which occur in a fixed period of time. The result can be displayed in any convenient engineering units provided they have a fixed numerical relationship with the signal source. The fixed period of time (gate time) may be:
     1) Fixed internally
     2) Internally adjustable
     3) Front panel adjustable

The input signal rate (Hz.) times the gate time equals the display number (ignoring the decimal point). or conversely, the display number (again ignoring the decimal point) divided by the input signal (Hz.) equals the gate time.

In addition to these features the unit can be equipped with up to three digital or analog setpoints, proportional current (0-1 ma.) or voltage (0-1 vdc or 0-50 mv) outputs for remote indicators or recorders, inputs for standard pickups, zero velocity pickups, TTL signals or form "C" contacts.

Each setpoint can be individually configured for underspeed or overspeed operation, to be latching or non-latching, for 5 amp or 10 amp contacts, standard or wide hysteresis and S.P.D.T. or D.P.D.T. contacts.
