SBE VCOM-54 High-Speed Serial Communications Controller Overview

The SBE VCOM-54 High-Speed Serial Communications Controller is a high speed VMEbus serial controller that provides four or eight ports of T1 and E1 rate serial communications. The single slot VME 64-compatible VCOM-54 was the first communications controller to offer Motorola's 68360 Quad Integrated Communications Controller (QUICC) multiprotocol engine. Its use of a leading edge communications processor and VME-64 interface silicon offers enhanced features and performance. The VCOM-54 is available with a single QUICC chip for four port applications, or with two QUICCs for eight ports. The user has the option of connecting the high-speed ports through either the VME P2 connector or a front panel configuration.

The SBE VCOM-54 High-Speed Serial Communications Controller may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
