The TA Instruments DIL 801 is a horizontal push-rod dilatometer designed for precision measurement of dimensional changes in materials as a function of temperature. The system is used to characterize thermal expansion behavior, coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), phase transitions, sintering processes, shrinkage behavior, and other temperature-dependent dimensional properties in ceramics, metals, glass, polymers, and advanced materials.
The DIL 801 employs a high-sensitivity Linear Variable Differential Transducer (LVDT) measurement system with digital amplifier technology to provide precise dimensional change measurements. The instrument utilizes interchangeable furnace configurations to support a broad range of testing conditions and temperature requirements while accommodating oxidizing, inert, reducing, or vacuum atmospheres.
As the entry model of the DIL 800 Series, the DIL 801 utilizes a single-sample horizontal push-rod design and shares the rugged platform architecture used throughout the series.

The TA Instruments DIL 801 electronic control and measurement unit is the control electronics for a DIL 801 series dilatometer, a thermal analysis instrument that measures the dimensional change (expansion or shrinkage) of a material sample as a function of temperature. It connects to the measuring head, furnace thermocouple, water control and sub-zero cooling hardware to regulate the furnace temperature program and acquire the displacement signal, and it communicates with a host computer over LAN or RS-232. It is used in materials characterization laboratories for testing ceramics, metals, glasses and similar materials.
