The Pilz PNOZ mo4p Expansion Module may only be connected to a base unit from the PNOZ multi modular safety system. The PNOZ multi modular safety system is used for the safety-related interruption of safety circuits and is designed for use in emergency stop equipment and safety circuits in accordance with VDE 0113 Part 1 and EN 60204-1.

The Pilz PNOZ mo4p expansion module provides additional relay outputs. The function of the outputs on the safety system depends on the safety circuit created using the PNOZ multi configurator. A chip card is used to download the safety circuit to the base unit. The base unit has 2 microcontrollers that monitor each other. They evaluate the input circuits on the base unit and expansion modules and switch the outputs on the base unit and expansion modules accordingly.

The Pilz PNOZ mo4p Expansion Module may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Functions

This expansion module extends the safety output capacity of a PNOZ Multi safety system. It provides two or four configurable, monitored safety outputs for safety-related control functions. Integrated and configured via the PNOZ Multi Configurator, it features status indicators for diagnostic feedback and utilizes plug-in connection terminals for electrical interfacing.

Platforms

This safety output module expands configurable safety controllers, providing two or four fail-safe output channels compliant with safety standards. It operates within the PNOZmulti modular safety system architecture, interfacing digitally with a central base unit for configuration via PC-based software. Field wiring connects through plug-in terminals, while integrated LEDs provide local diagnostics. Primary applications include scaling safety I/O for emergency stop circuits, guard monitoring, and light curtain integration in industrial machinery.

Expansion module designed to provide additional safety outputs for modular safety relay systems.
