Features:
- Two Banks of Channels
- Broad Multiplexing
- Measurement Capabilities
- Can Connect MUX to an External Instrument
The Keysight 34921A-34925A Low Frequency Multiplexer Modules features two banks of channels, providing broad multiplexing and measurement capabilities. You can connect a MUX to an external instrument, and/or switch multiple analog signals to the internal DMM. With the 34921A, 34922A, 34923A, and the 34924A modules, you can close more than one channel in each bank simultaneously. Since the 34925A module is protected with overvoltage circuitry, you can close only one channel in each bank at one time. You can connect multiple MUXes to the built-in Analog Buses, which allow you to scan as many as 560 2-wire (differential) channels or 640 1-wire (single -ended) channels in one 34980A mainframe.
The 34923A Keysight 40/80-Channel Reed Multiplexer Module may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
Functions
Multiplexes up to 40 two-wire or 80 one-wire signals to a common measurement channel. Provides low-current switching with minimal thermal offset. Designed for automated test systems requiring high-density signal routing. Utilizes reed relays for fast switching speeds and long life. Compatible with data acquisition systems.
Platforms
Reed relay multiplexer module for 34970A/34972A data acquisition systems. Provides 40 single-ended or 20 two-wire multiplexed channels expandable to 80 single-ended channels using dual-module configuration. Operates within mainframe's measurement subsystem, connecting via proprietary backplane interface. Module switches analog signals through reed relays to internal DMM or external instruments via rear-panel analog bus. Interfaces through SCPI commands over GPIB, RS-232, or LAN. Common applications include automated test systems, temperature monitoring with thermocouples/RTDs, voltage measurements in production testing, and multi-point data logging in laboratory environments.
Applications
This module provides high-density switching for medium-speed scanning applications in automated test systems. Supports 40 two-wire or 20 four-wire multiplexed channels, expandable to 80 two-wire channels with dual-module configuration. Reed relay technology enables switching of signals up to 60V/0.5A or 30VA maximum. Typical applications include data acquisition from multiple sensors, precision voltage/resistance measurements in production test, temperature monitoring using thermocouples or RTDs, and automated calibration systems. Commonly used for characterizing multi-pin devices, battery cell monitoring, and environmental chamber testing where moderate switching speeds with good isolation are required.
Accessories
Requires 34970A, 34972A, or 34980A mainframe for operation. Module connects via 168-pin DIN connector to mainframe backplane. Features two 50-pin male D-sub connectors (pins 1-40 and 41-80) for external signal connections. Compatible with 34921T terminal block for screw terminal connections or direct wire connections to D-sub connectors. Switching matrix supports 2-wire or 4-wire configurations with reed relays rated for low-level signals up to 300V, 1A maximum switching current.
Interfaces
78-pin D-sub connector for channel connections; compatibility with Keysight 34980A Mainframe for expansion and control; reed relays for high-speed switching; capable of scanning and switching up to 80 single-ended or 40 differential channels; option for independent or banked operation.
