Newport / Oriel 70118 UV Cooled Silicon Detector Head Overview

The Newport / Oriel 70113 / 70118 Cooled Silicon Detector Heads are configured for use with the Merlin
Radiometer. Each of these detector heads contains a 5.1mm diameter, thermoelectrically cooled, silicon
photodiode operated in the photovoltaic (unbiased) mode and a low noise transimpedance amplifier. The
single stage thermoelectric cooler provides a stable responsivity, especially at longer wavelengths. Internal
switches allow transimpedance gain and time constant selection.
Both the 70113 and 70118 Silicon Detector Heads are OEM calibrated at 633 nm. This single point calibration can be used both as an accurate value at that one wavelength. For much better accuracy a 70112 or 70117 Calibration Module should be used. These modules contain responsivity values across the useful wavelength range of that head. With narrow band radiation, you simply key in the wavelength and Merlin automatically calculates and displays the power level you are measuring.
The 70110 Calibration Module provides photometric calibration data from 400nm to 700nm.
Both the 70113 and 70118 Silicon Detector Heads are OEM calibrated at 633 nm. This single point calibration can be used both as an accurate value at that one wavelength. High-sensitivity cooled silicon photodetector optimized for 400-1100nm spectral range with peak responsivity near 950nm. Features thermoelectric cooling to reduce dark current and noise, achieving NEP below 1 pW/vHz. Integrates temperature controller with 4-pin LEMO interface for precise thermal stabilization. Signal output via 5-pin mini-DIN connector provides photocurrent measurement with typical responsivity 0.5 A/W. Designed for low-light spectroscopy, photometry, and radiometry applications requiring high dynamic range. Compatible with lock-in amplifiers and transimpedance amplifiers for AC/DC photocurrent measurement. Hermetically sealed housing prevents condensation during cooled operation.
