The Abaco Systems / Radstone 68-41 / 68-42 Dual Processor Single Board Computers are 68040-based single board computers that maximize real-time performance in VMEbus systems through the use of a dual processor architecture. 68-41 and 42 fully utilize the RISC-like performance of the 68040 processor, while integrating the high level of I/O functionality demanded for high performance real-time systems. Software investment is guaranteed by maintaining code compatibility throughout the 68000 family of processor devices.

Both boards combine the processing power of Motorola's 68040, with up to 36 Mbytes of RAM, on-board SCSI, Ethernet and APEX interfaces, plus four serial ports, all under the control of a dedicated 68020 acting as an intelligent I/O processor.

The 68-41 features a VSB interface, allowing concurrent data transfers over VME and VSB. For systems not requiring VSB, the 68-42 provides a software compatible platform that uses the P2 user-defined pins for I/O connections. A range of transition modules is available to convert P2 inputs/outputs to industry standard connectors.

The Abaco Systems PME 68-42 VME Single Board Computer may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
