The GreenSpring SBC5 VMEbus Single Board Computer hosts a Motorola MC68030 processor at 32 MHz, one or four MBytes of dual access DRAM provides high performance via a burst mode cache fill interface. Full system controller functions are provided, including a four-level arbiter and a digital BBSY filter. Two serial ports and a clock-calender provide software compatibility with Greenspring's complete line of SBC's.
Up to one MByte software is resident on two EPROMS or an optional Flash EPROM module. The Flash module supports resident erase/write/verify update of code or data up to 100,000 update cycles. Dramatically reduced software development, debugging, and updating time is possible by the use of Flash EPROM over traditional EPROM. The Flash memory is 32-bits wide, permitting efficient execution of system and application software directly from Flash. The Flash module replaces one of the EPROMS; single EPROM is supported. Expansion capability is provided to OEM's through the use of compatible SI1 connector, which supports 32-bit data width, interrupts and DMA. The connector provides a true upgrade path from the SBC3, through the SBC4 to the SBC5.
System configuration information may be stored in the local four kbit EEPROM. Access to the configuration EEPROM is via general purpose I/O lines on the DUART, so no system address space is consumed.
