The Themis SPARC LXE VME Single Board Computer is a VME module based on the Texas Instruments microSPARC, a highly integrated microprocessor with a wide array of on-chip features.
The LXE comes standard with two SBus slots, SCSI-2, Ethernet, Centronics, mouse/keyboard interface, 2 RS232 ports, VMEbus interface and JTAG testability for the major ASICs. The hardware chip set is composed of the microSPARC, two NCR ASICs (SLAVIO and MACIO) and the SUN S4 VME controller.
Use of the same ship set found in Sun's new SPARCclassic product line and standard Solaris 2.x CD-ROM binary distribution media assures compatibility with Sun Microsystems products on both hardware and software levels.
The Themis LXE SPARCclassic compatible CPU is a high performance, low cost VMEbus CPU board supporting Solaris 1.1 and Solaris 2.3 UNIX operating systems. For demanding real-time applications, a wide variety of real-time kernels including VxWorks and LynxOS are supported.
The highly integrated Texas Instruments Tsunami processor was designed as a building block for cost effective computer systems with very low component counts. Themis has built a powerful, simple and reliable CPU engine around this MicroSPARC.
