DS568 dSPACE Sideplane Module

The dSPACE DS568 Sideplane Module is a kind of base board which offers up to 32 simulation channels on standard slots which can be used to plug-in analog- and digital-output signal conditioning modules (SC-modules). Each of the 32 channels routed from the input connector to the slots consists of one signal-line. The reference signal for all inputs is ground. Each channel routed from the slots to the output connector consists of one signal-line and one reference signal which can be used for ground sensing outputs.

There exist 7 different module slots on the DS658 (1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 4) carrying 8 signals with their references each, whereas the slots denoted with "a" can be found on the component side of the board and those denoted with "b" are placed in the same location but on the bottom side. To each of the first three pairs of module-slots (1a and 1b, 2a and 2b, 3a and 3b) belongs two jumper-fields which can be used to select which of the 8 according channels should be routed via module "a" or module "b". On the top side of the DS658 board there is one jumper for each of the input channels 1 till 24 to decide whether the channel is routed to the input of module "a" or module "b". On the bottom side there are two jumpers for each of the output channels 1 till 24 to decide whether the output signal and the corresponding reference from module "a" or module "b" will be routed to the output connector. Module slot number 4 exists only on the top side of the board, therefore there are no jumpers for this slot. The input channels 25 till 32 are routed directly from the input connector to the module slot number 4 and the corresponding output and reference signals are routed directly from this slot to the output connector.
