The Parker/Model PC21 Indexer is a board-level product that can move a load to a precise position and stop, move at a constant velocity, move back and forth between 2 positions alternately or use an combination of such moves. This indexer can be inserted into an open slot on the IMB PC system expansion bus or I/O channel. This indexer can be used to control any Motor/Drive system or an standard 200/400 step translator.
The PC21 can be connected to an incremental optical encoder to form an integral closed-loop feedback system to enhance the accuracy of position control to submicron standards.
The PC21 includes the following features:
- functions as an intelligent peripheral to the PC
- can be programmed to interrupt the host processor
- 1,400-character memory permits downloading of multiple move sequences
- supports motor/drive resolutions up to 50,000 steps/rev
- open- or closed-loop control standard
