The OMRON ACC-52 MACRO I/O Device is a solution for a cost-effective, simple I/O system that uses high bandwidth MACRO (Motion And Control Ring Optical) fiber optic technology. Any MACRO bus master is capable of driving the ACC-52 MACRO I/O Device as if it were a part of the master itself.
The OMRON ACC-52 MACRO I/O Device is capable of (16) outputs and (24) inputs. There are (8) analog-to-digital converter inputs, a port for an LCD display, and a differential input for an encoder.
There are (2) loop-break timers that may be set to perform output tasks should the OMRON ACC-52 MACRO I/O Device stop receiving data from the master. These (2) timers are fully selectable for length of time and output. Timer outputs may write a word, logically AND, or logically OR data to the outputs. The length of time is user selectable for 0.1 second increments for both timers.
A device-mapping table allows the user to select which input devices are returned through the (3) high-speed slave node data MACRO registers. ALL inputs may be accessed by MACRO read commands.
An EEROM memory has been manufactured to store timer and device mapping parameters. The stored parameters are reloaded automatically at power-up.
The OMRON ACC-52 MACRO I/O Device was developed specifically for reducing a system's complexity when fiber optic control distribution is used.
Developing a simple MACRO slave device that performs an interface to inputs and outputs was the goal in developing the OMRON ACC-52 MACRO I/O Device. Adding an OMRON ACC-52 MACRO I/O Device completes the interface picture whereby a machine may contain one or more peripheral control panels that are capable of remotely controlling or interfacing to a machine.
The OMRON ACC-52 MACRO I/O Device simplifies a system's design by separating the controller from peripheral I/O cabinets electrically. Imagine a large machine that is 100 feet in length, has multiple control stations that communicate back to the same PMAC, yet there is complete electrical noise immunity between the control cabinet and each peripheral device, and this results in a very reliable implementation.
The ACC-52M OMRON MACRO I/O Device Board may still be available for purchase and support from Artisan Technology Group beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
