The Curtiss-Wright / Pentland Systems VGx Series VME Data Acquisition Systems consists of a acquisition daughterboard (VGD), data interface Options (VGI), and application control and system life support (VGM). The VGX acquisition dauthercard comprises the data acquisition primary functions. The Direct Data Interface (DDI) module presents the system designer with a direct route into popular DSP and RISC computing engine, e.g. TMS320C4x via Comms ports, Mercury (Raceway), PowerPC and SHARC via FPDP thereby avoiding backplane bottlenecks and ensuring system throughput keeps pace with processing technologies. THE VGX motherboard provides VME host control via a VXI register based device memory map implementation. Full VME interrupt capability is provided for real-time acquisition status reporting. Protecting the digitisation process running on the daughtercard is a key function of the mothercard and effective screening techniques have been applied to enusre that the analog signal digitization performance is not degraded by the inherent noise of high speed DSP processing environments.
